San Francisco City Hall, Room 250

City Hall is fast-tracking a massive upzoning plan that would double or triple height limits in our neighborhoods—without real community input. It’s a giveaway to developers that threatens renters, homeowners, and small businesses alike.

About the event

1:30pm - Board of Supervisor Land Use Committee - Informational Hearing on Mayor Lurie's Upzoning Map

Chair of Land Use & Transportation Committee, Supervisor Melgar has called for a hearing on June 16 to provide discussion of the rezoning proposal. The purpose is to ensure that the Board is able to hear from members of the public before the Planning’s “Housing Element Rezoning Plan” legislative package comes in the fall.

The State requires the City to approve the plan by January 2026. Supervisors Melgar and Chen are working on legislation to strengthen protections for residential tenants and to support small businesses who may be affected by construction, and strategies to increase investments in affordable housing, including establishing an Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District.
